The Partners for Climate Protection Program is a partnership between the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives. The program aims to assist municipal governments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Sheltair Corporation of Vancouver, BC contracted Praxis to deliver a communications program for the Climate Protection Program for the Town of Banff.

In overall communications plan was developed and incorporated within the framework of the “Towards a Sustainable Banff”program. After developing a comprehensive strategy, Praxis delivered a series of workshops to community organizations to encourage them to support initiatives to reduce energy usage throughout the community. The FCM awarded the Town of Banff with its highest distinction as a result of this initiative.

In addition, Canada Climate Change “Voluntary Challenge and Registry” recognized the Banff Local Action Plan for Energy Management as a Silver Champion Level report. This is the second highest level of reporting achievement in the VCR Champion Reporting System.
