Public and Stakeholder Consultation

Project Name

Ontario Secondary School Reform: Public and Stakeholder Consultation

Client
Ontario Ministry of Education and Training
Project Type
Provincial Government
Timeframe
1996 to 1997

As part of the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training’s consultation process on the reform of the secondary education school system, Praxis gathered all public and stakeholder comments from three consultation documents distributed throughout the Province. These documents contained the public and stakeholder input to 30 quantitative and 38 qualitative (open-ended) questions. Over 28,000 individuals provided written responses; it was necessary to translate over 600 French submissions into English for input and analysis.

In addition, Praxis organized and input all other “non-standard” data received through letters, reports, petitions, campaigns and written submissions. Together, this information formed a series of statistical and qualitative databases that Praxis used to prepare the background documents for this process.

Praxis undertook a question-by-question analysis of the input as well as a comparative analysis across all the survey instruments. Based on the findings, we prepared 15 summary reports. To facilitate effective communications and data exchange during the project Praxis placed two desktop video conferencing units in the clients’ and sub-consultants’ offices.
