Client
Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Project Type

Timeframe
2001

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) contracted Praxis to update the “Manual on Pubic Involvement”, which we had produced for the Federal Environmental Assessment and Review Office (FEARO) in 1986. This four-volume Manual was directed at senior decision-makers, line managers and administrative officials in federal government agencies at the national and regional levels to assist them in developing and implementing public involvement programs.

For this project, Praxis conducted a scoping study to identify areas in the Manual requiring updates. Praxis gave particular attention to timely topic areas such as public involvement with Aboriginal peoples, alternative dispute resolution, as well as approaches and techniques employed in both legislated and less formal processes.
