Client

Project Type

Timeframe
2001

Northstar Energy explored the potential of producing natural gas from the coalbed methane present in coal seams located in the Gold Creek Valley area of southwest Alberta. The first two phases of this project included an initial water sampling survey and a baseline environmental assessment of the valley. The next phase required that Northstar secure approval to drill and core three stratigraphic holes to evaluate the coal quality in the Gold Creek area.

Northstar contracted Praxis to design and implement a public consultation program regarding the pre and post approval phases of the Gold Creek stratigraphic test holes. Praxis developed a public consultation process that included the development and distribution of a project “Backgrounder”; preparation and distribution of “Fact Sheets”; facilitation of regional stakeholder meetings; and assistance with the design and organization of two regional open houses.
