Public and Stakeholder Consultation

Project Name

Alberta's Integrated Resource Planning: Public Involvement Program Delivery

Client
Alberta Environment
Project Type
Provincial Government
Timeframe
1987 to 1993

This project consisted of two, three-year contracts with the Resource Planning Branch of Alberta Environment. Praxis provided all of the public involvement, public education and promotion program support services to the Branch.

In order to define the program’s needs, Praxis conducted an evaluation of the entire public involvement program for the previous eight year period. As part of this evaluation, we undertook a comprehensive survey of Branch staff, other government staff involved in the process, special interest groups and the general public. Over the six-year period Praxis worked on over 60 consultation programs across the province, which included the research, design, coordination, production, and delivery for each public involvement project.

Praxis was also responsible for the development of all strategy and action plans, advertising and media relations, public meeting logistics, mailing lists, and analysis of all public input. In addition, a number of special projects were undertaken including the creation of a new “corporate image”, design of a major “in-stand” program display, development of a shared-plan development concept for future public involvement, and management of a bi-monthly newsletter “Planning in Progress.”
