The National Forum on Health (NFOH) commissioned Praxis to complete three separate assignments. First, Praxis analyzed and reported the findings from the Phase I Consultation, which included input from random, self-selected Canadians. These individuals completed a questionnaire/workbook regarding their perceptions on health and health care in Canada. Praxis analyzed the qualitative information from over 750 workbooks. We also translated the Francophone workbooks for inclusion in the database, conducted the analysis, and prepared the final report.

Second, Praxis summarized all the written submissions from national organizations and other key stakeholders; we then wrote a series of background papers based on this input. For the third and final assignment, Praxis completed the data entry and analysis of over 90 research papers and reports. These papers included 27 major papers from a Canada-USA conference on women’s health issues; a series of 20 internal papers written by authors under contract to the NFOH; and 12 papers by Health Canada summarizing the current situation of health care nationally, and in each province and territory.
