Timeframe
1981 to 1989

This study involved the collection of detailed data on 8,000 employees in 325 private and public organizations in 14 communities across northern Alberta. Analysis included a detailed assessment of levels of occupational and industrial employment using Statistics Canada’s CCDO classification system and community and regional assessments of turnover. In addition to assessing the “real” rates of turnover, Praxis gathered data on the perceptions of organizational and community turnover. Recommendations to reduce community turnover were identified based on assessments and input from the northern communities as well as a detailed literature review of techniques used elsewhere in Canada, the United States and Europe.
