Client
Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission
Project Type
Survey research
Timeframe
2002 to 2003

Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC) retained Praxis to conduct a benchmark study of adolescent behaviours in Alberta regarding alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling. Praxis worked with AADAC to develop the Alberta Youth Experience Survey, which will also be used in the future to obtain current, relevant Alberta-based information.

In addition to survey design, Praxis was responsible for sampling, data collection and data analysis. The survey was completed by 3394 students in grades 7 to 12 from 89 randomly selected schools across Alberta. Praxis designed and prepared a comprehensive technical report that outlined the background of the study, the data collection procedure, and the major findings.
