Genome BC and Genome Canada have adopted integrated science and social science and humanities research as the funding model for their genomics research competitions. In 2009, Genome BC engaged Praxis Pacific to undertake an evaluative review of this funding model to understand what researchers, peer reviewers and other stakeholders perceive as its strengths and weaknesses. Praxis Pacific was also responsible for determining what Genome BC could do to better support researchers working on integrated projects.

Praxis Pacific conducted in-depth interviews with 60 genomics scientists, social scientists and humanists. Most interviews took place in-person in location within British Columbia. Praxis Pacific conducted telephone interviews with participants located across Canada but outside the province of BC, as well as the United States, Europe and Australia. Interviews were recorded for production of confidential verbatim transcripts.

Praxis Pacific imported transcripts into QSR N6 qualitative software for coding into key themes to assist with analysis. Praxis Pacific provided Genome BC with a comprehensive final report summarizing key learnings and experiences from integrated projects and recommendations for the future.
