The Fraser Basin Council engaged Praxis Pacific to undertake a literature review and to translate a technical study into a five-year gravel management plan for the Fraser River in British Columbia. Gravel accumulation in the lower reaches of the Fraser had created a serious flood hazard for communities along the river. A gravel extraction plan was needed that balanced flood reduction with fishery, environmental and Aboriginal concerns. The plan was approved for implementation for the 2005-2009 period.
