Guyn Cooper Associates Ltd.

Merrill Cooper is the principal of a Calgary-based firm, Guyn Cooper Research Associates, specializing in social sciences research, evaluation, policy development, and not-for-profit sector planning. Since 1989, she has worked with Praxis on many projects.

Over the past 20 years, Merrill has completed hundreds of research, evaluation, and policy projects for not-for-profit agencies, funding organizations, policy think tanks, and all levels of government in areas including sector planning and strategic investments, domestic violence, justice, child and youth development, housing and homelessness, immigration, and diversity and equality issues.

More recently, Merrill’s work has included social trends analysis and projections, including the immediate and long-term social, economic, and political consequences of demographic change in Alberta and in Canada. Merrill is a frequent speaker and commentator on social trends. She has also been a commentator on CBC’s, The National.

Merrill holds a B.A.and M.A. in Political Science from the University of Calgary.  She has completed additional courses in research methodology and management.
